Clawfoot Tub Faucets - A Brief Look
By Odale Lively
Clawfoot and vintage style tubs are different from standard bathtub installations, and
require faucets specifically designed for them. This articles takes a brief look at the most common
styles of clawfoot tub faucets, and materials they are they constructed of.
Clawfoot bathtubs have enjoyed a resurgence in popularity in recent years, in both new
home construction and home remodeling projects. Clawfoot tubs combine the very best of Victorian styling and beauty
with modern home functionality. These tubs provide an elegant way to take a long, hot soaking bath - with or
without bubbles.
Because these types of tubs are somewhat different from the standard bathtub installation, you will need to take a
look at some of the clawfoot tub faucets designed specifically for a clawfoot or antique tub.
Typical faucet configurations include tub wall mount, deck mount, and free standing fixtures. Some
faucets include a hand held shower attachment, which is useful for washing hair, hard to reach areas like your
back, and for rinsing out the tub when you are done with your bath.
Clawfoot tub faucets are constructed from a variety of different materials. Most
common materials are made of brass, nickel, chrome, and steel. The handles for these faucets are usually made
of porcelain or metal, and occasionally of wood.
