The handheld shower is more
versatile than a fixed shower head, and for this reason is a popular complement to a clawfoot bath tub.
It is ideal for taking a shower, rinsing hair and getting to hard-to-reach body parts like your back. When you're
not using the shower head, it rests in a cradle that looks something like an old fashioned
telephone.
Most handhelds are
attached directly to the tub faucet. It's important to note however that a regular clawfoot tub
faucet cannot be used for a shower. If you currently have a regular tub faucet, you will need to replace it with
one that will allow a shower to be attached. The faucet needs special fittings designed specifically for
attaching a shower head.
